Into the Holy Cross!

While Tanner and I were up at Harrison Flat, we ran into another photographer from South Carolina. He and a friend had rented Llamas in Buena Vista and were spending a week in the surrounding mountains. As we were talking he mentioned another of his favorite areas, Missour Lakes. Finally!

Well, I’ve been wanting to get down to the Great Sand Dunes since at least March, maybe January, I can’t remember; For awhile. Time or the weather seemed to foil my other attempts. On this weekend, I made it.

I’d recently completed my backpacking ensemble in prep for a trip into the Lost Creek Wilderness with my friend, Jesse Speer. But I wasn’t able to go on that trip due to a death in the family. I was itching to get out for at least a night, so I decided to leave after my Son’s baseball game on Saturday the 9th, hopefully to get to the Sand Dunes by sunset. Read the rest of this entry »
